These stunning bronze rain drums have an original patina weathered from decades of use, circular mildly dished top on a wide waisted and flared base, all with fine ribbed and geometrically banded cast relief detail, with four raised animal forms on the rim, the sides with conforming lug handles and row of figural elephant castings on the side. Originally crafted as tribal drums used in Southeast Asian rituals, their hollow bronze shape transforms the sound of monsoon rains into music, dating back to circa 1650.
