Dusty Black and White Cushion Cover
Just in time for summer, these oversized cushions can be seen strewn all over the dreamy Scorpios Mykonos and Casa Cook Rhodes, transforming your thoughts to lazing casually in the sunshine sipping exotic cocktails on the Mediterranean.
These cushions consist of elegant and intricate embroideries from the women of the Siwa Oasis in the Sahara Desert. This unique artisanship is handed down from mother to daughter since the dawn of the Berber population of the oasis. The traditional symbolic patterns are adapted into contemporary designs.
These hand made textiles come from two small villages in Egypt. One is located in the outskirts of Cairo in an area famous for its textile. They are made by a family business that specialise in the traditional patterns of the different areas of Egypt. The other village is set on the Nile in the south of Egypt. Also a family owned business the weavers create beautiful materials in techniques known only to this specific area.
These pure wool kilim cushions are inspired by traditional Beduin patterns. The craftsmen are working from a small factory in the part of Cairo called Khiamia. A truly magical place that still takes your thoughts centuries back in time.
